"Tiana’s one of my very favorite Disney princesses, but it really upsets me that a lot of her fans only like her for "what" she is as opposed to who she is. There is so much more to Tiana than her just being "the first black princess," and I only liking her because of something arbitrary like her skin color (as opposed to her awesome resourcefulness, sense of dignity, and ambition) is missing the entire point of her character, and that depresses me"

You must come from a place of privilege to say that skin color is “arbitrary”. I can tell you from experience that it’s not. There are a lot of young men who are dead right now because of it. Skin color is a huge defining factor if you’re a person of color, especially if you’re black. I know people like to say that children don’t see color, and that’s an outright lie. Kids may not have an idea of the social meanings of race (at least consciously), but they can tell when their skin color is different from someone else’s.
Tiana means a lot to many people because of her race and her characteristics. If you like Tiana because she’s black and for no other reason, then so freaking what? There have been plenty of confessions and statements from people who like Rapunzel, Belle, or any other Disney princess/character just because of their hair or skin color and for no other reason. Someone liking Tiana just for being black is no different. If you like Tiana for her personality and qualities, regardless of her race (though it is still an important aspect of her story), then that’s fine, too. But you’re not special or better because you like a character for their qualities and not by their race.
